Hopuhopu Show Jumping - End of an Era

The Hopuhopu Showjumping's grounds are no longer to be used for showjumping. A 10 year lease with Tainui has not been renewed and all the jumps, pens, equipment and buildings are being sold.   ESNZ has accepted three dates for One Star events to be run at the Waikato Equestrian Centre and Hopuhopu organisers Pam and Eddie Bennet will be assisting the Centre to run their first one star events this summer.

The Hopuhopu grounds which are situated between Taupiri and Ngaruawahia, only one hour from Auckland are on Hopuhopu sandy loam and provided a great surface to compete on.  The aim of the Hopuhopu Showjumping was to promote showjumping in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage young riders into the sport and generally to see all riders come and enjoy themselves.  Four two-day events a year were held and were open to registered and unregistered competitors.
